Project ARS: Initial Load Status - completed

We completed the initial load of the system, but I keep this page here to show the progress and speed with which our movers were able to load books into the ARS.

This is a limited diary of this process with footnotes offering reasons for differences in speed.

52750 51855 49794 154399 5407 5407 * A "finger sensor" was crushed by the crane on aisle 3. Lack of this crane will likely decrease productivity by 33%. Hoping for delivery of replacement parts Saturday morning.

* A "finger sensor" was crushed by the crane on aisle 3 bringing aisle 3 down all day.
* Aisle 1 and 2 needed a sequence of 15" bins to be locks to get around a bug in bin acquisition priority. (3 may need this too, but it was down today waiting for a "finger sensor" to be sent via Fed Ex after being ordered today.)
* Double-scans are slowing our processing.

59989 57525 51614 169128 6251 10733 * Our processing by volume (number of crates) was faster than the movers could deliver them to us during one point in the day! (First time for this!)
* No serious problems today
* Count of items is smaller only because items are heavy and large causing us to become bogged down in dealing with bins, and crates as well as moving heavier books.
* All cranes operational for the afternoon shift.

80902 74469 71812 227183 757 757 * This number is misleading: Large boxes were loaded into bins. Some of these boxes had to be emptied before the contents could be loaded, and other boxes were stored as single items as the boxes were bar coded.

81080 74469 71930 227479 296 1053 * The numbers for today are misleading: Large boxes of stuff were stored in bins. The boxes had bar codes. About 500 boxes were places into the ARS with bar codes. These are high volume items, but equate to small item counts.
