Hardware
This lab contains 23 266-MHz PCs.
All the computers are connected to the campus network.
The PCs are configured with:
- 128 Mbytes RAM
- 30 Gbyte hard disk and 4 Gbyte hard disk (partitioned as described below)
- 1.44Mbyte floppy drive
- SCSI ZIP drive
- CD-ROM drive
- 10BaseT Ethernet interface
- 3 additional 10BaseT Ethernet interfaces for connection to private network
- SCSI interface
- 3 button mouse
- 17 inch color monitor (resolution up to 1280x1024)
One of the computers is connected to a ceiling-mounted data projector which is
capable of a display resolution of 1024x768.
Software
Every PC in the lab has had its disks partitioned so it can run several different
operating systems. The partitions are:
- 4 GBytes for Windows NT
- 4 GBytes for Linux
- 512 Mbytes swap for Linux
When the PCs are booted a menu is displayed allowing the selection of an
operating system or a partition on a ZIP disk.
Every PC in the lab has the following software installed:
- Windows NT 4.0
- CodeWarrior Pro 6 (C/C++/Java)
- Netscape Communicator 4.6
- Internet Explorer 4.0
- Logicworks 3.0
- Microsoft Access
- Additional network applications (telnet, ftp)
Private Network
In addition to the public network that connects every computer to the
campus network and thereby to the Internet, there is also a private
network in the lab. This private network allows additional network interface
cards in each computer to be connected to a variety of network hubs,
bridges and routers housed in the lab.

Monday throughThursday 8:00 am - 11:00 pm
Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
When a
class is scheduled
this lab is not available for general use.
